FAQ’s
What kind of photography do you specialise in?
I specialise in outdoor, adventure, travel, and wildlife photography—with a strong focus on storytelling. My work often takes me to remote places, capturing everything from extreme sports to conservation efforts and cultural moments.
Do you shoot commercial or brand collaborations?
Absolutely. I’ve worked with tour operators, outdoor brands, expedition leaders, and event organizers to create impactful visual content in the field. If it involves adventure, purpose, or the outdoors—we’re speaking the same language.
Where are you based, and do you travel for work?
I’m currently based in Bologna, Italy—but I travel regularly for assignments and personal projects. Whether it’s the Dolomites, the Himalayas, or a coastal village in Southeast Asia, I’m always up for a journey.
Can I book you for a photography workshop or expedition?
Yes! I run small group workshops with focus on travel & post production, and occasionally join expeditions as a photography lead. Keep an eye on my socials or subscribe to my newsletter for upcoming dates—or get in touch if you’d like a custom experience.
Do you license your images or take print orders?
Yes to both. Select images are available as limited-edition prints, and many of my photos are available for licensing. If there’s a particular image you’re interested in, just drop me a message.
What gear do you use?
I shoot primarily with Sony mirrorless systems suited for travel and field conditions. I also use drones and underwater housings when the job calls for it. But at the end of the day, it’s the story—not the gear—that matters most.
Lenses: Sony 14mm F/1.8 GM, Sony 24-105mm F/4 G, Sony 100-400mm F/4 GM, Sony 2x Teleconverter
How did you get started in photography?
It all began in the hills of northwest England, where I first fell in love with wild landscapes. Over time, that passion evolved through travel, adventure, and years behind the lens—leading to the creation of davewsphotography.
What inspires your work the most?
Human connection to nature. The quiet resilience of wildlife. The energy of movement. The little things that go unseen by most. The raw, unscripted moments that happen when people interact with the world around them.
